Baylor Buddies is a mentoring organization that works to foster mentoring relationships between elementary and middle school-aged children at risk of dropping out of school in the Waco community.
Any Baylor student who loves service! Members commit to acting as responsible, mature role models while developing relationships with children in the community. Members serve during the academic school year from September through May.
You meet your Buddy at a mutually agreed time during their school day, between 8 AM and 3 PM and you will usually spend time with your Buddy for 45 minutes to an hour! During your session you usually spend time with your Buddy by doing anything from playing board games, making friendship bracelets/necklaces, or just talking with them!
Having a positive, consistent role model and friend can significantly increase a child's chances of success and increase their self-confidence!

You will then have to attend s mandatory orientation on general protocols and advice for working with your Buddies as well as a session with experts training you on special scenarios you may encounter. Campus Kitchen is a group of students that exists to use service as a tool to (1) strengthen bodies by using existing resources to meet hunger and nutritional needs, (2) empower minds by providing leadership and service opportunities to students and community, (3) build communities by fostering a new generation of community-minded adults. The Steppin' Out Planning Committee is a student committee that works behind the scenes to plan the Steppin' Out Day of Service. The students who plan Steppin' Out come from various majors and work hard to meaningfully represent Baylor to the Waco community. The Santa's Workshop campus organization is in charge of planning the yearly Santa's Workshop Christmas event. Santa's Workshop is an annual Christmas event that brings hundreds of children (ages 3-5) to Baylor campus from daycares and Head Start centers all across Waco! The event gives children the opportunity to interact with the Baylor community, students and volunteers, have a meal, meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, receive a free gift and much more!
